The spirit of the old <El Paso> guild had been around before its founding in WoW. Our worlds collided many, many long months ago on a different virtual battlefield. Eyes squinting, hands aching we pounded out many epic firefights and during the process we helped build EPTG community. As time passed the community became more than just one game and we strived to stay connected as a community. However, the success and needs of the WoW guild required more room to grow. So with heavy hearts we set forth to forge a new community and <Ascension> was born. You are welcomed to add you distinctiveness to ours. Once you do, remember, resistance is futile.
Everyone has a voice if they choose to use it. It will not be heard louder or softer than the next. Each member is a Knight and deserves a seat at the table. From time to time Knights will be asked to help with the guild. These members will hold the title of Baron or Knight Captain. The change of title is a way to recognize the person for their additional work for the guild. Current Departments in which these ranks exist for:
These members are task with the duty of leading the raids for the guild. While there may be a specific person leading the raid, strats are always welcome for discussion among the members of the raid. Currently in Position:
This department is in charge of making sure both new and old members have registered at the forum. In the last guild people complained of being left out of the process. There no longer are any hidden forums for full guild members. They only way you will be uninformed will be to not visiting the site. Also this Department will make sure new recruits get signed up and have a timely membership poll. They will make sure people label their alts with a player note. Just generally make sure the guild info stays organized. Currently in Position:
The following individuals will handle any technical aspects of the site. Currently in Position:
These members will be in charge of Guild trade skill materials and the guild bank. If you have questions please ask them. Currently in Position:
These individuals are responsible for loot distribution during raids. Currently in Position:
The members have been picked as the captains of their respective class. These individuals have the title of Knight Captains. Their responsibilities include helping to guide and direct their classes during raids. Co-ordinate and planning boss fights (particularly new boss fights) with other raid leaders. They should generally be the only people of their class speaking on Vent during boss fights and any other tense moments. They need to provide class guidance and advice to new and old members. They will also help with recruitment for their class and help evaluate members for Knight status. Currently in Position:
There are two ways to enter into Ascension: applying on the forum or a being a family member. If someone asks you about joining the guild or you find someone that you believe would be a good addition to the community, advise that person of the membership process. That person must complete the registration and after such time the application will be reviewed. Registration includes posting an introduction, answering the New Member Questions and reading the Guild Rules.
Most new members will join as Peons. During that rank the new members will not have access to the all the forums. Once they have met the requirements a vote will be held. Upon passing the vote the person will graduate to the rank of Man-at-Arms or Nobleman.
Peon:While they may wear the tag, they are not full members of the guild. The initiate rank is a probation period. During this rank the new members will not have access to all the forums. Once they have met the requirements, a vote will be held. The initiate period will last for up to a month, but may last longer or shorter depending on the situation. Upon passing the vote the person will graduate to the rank of Man-At-Arms. A person's entry as an Initiate signifies their desire to be a contributing member in this guild. To be accepted as an Initiate you must:
A Nobleman will have full access to the community. This rank is designed primarily as a non-raiding rank. Noblemen are welcome to participate in any guild event that they meet the requirements to attend. Members in this rank will be any person too low a level to raid, inactive members or family members of existing Knights. A Nobleman can be request Man-At-Arms status, or raiding status, if they desire to take a larger active part in the guild. A move to Man-At-Arms may not be automatic, but depend on the current raiding needs.
These are the raiding ranks for Ascension. Anyone serious about contributing to the raid progression of the guild will find himself or herself here. During this rank a member gains full loot rights and full forum access. Man-At-Arms are encouraged to participate regularly in guild events and other guild raid related activities. How active they are within the guild when it comes to raids, supplying raids and forum community weights heavily in and decision to be promoted to Knight. Man-At-Arms have 2nd raid confirmation Priority. A Knight is the highest raiding rank. Being a Knight signifies your desire to participate heavily in the guild’s raiding efforts. Knights will be the 1st rank confirmed for all progression raids. A Knights status is not guaranteed and can be lost due to extreme inactivity, extending breaks from the game, lack of raiding support or poor behavior. Class captains are responsible for evaluating the Knights of their given class.
Any family members of a full member can be added to the guild as a Man-At-Arms or Nobleman. This rule only applies to someone’s family not to their friends. Friends will have to apply as normal. All the initiate requirements apply to this person if they desire to raid. Their entry rank into the guild will also depend on the need for them as a raider. They are welcome to join as a Nobleman until a Man-At-Arms spot is opened. For our Knights living in West Virginia a family member is considered anything larger than a sheep.
Eloquent, appealing, and informative are some words to describe communication. With Ascension, additional adjectives should be inserted such as ribald, coarse, crass, crude, gross, inelegant, low, raw, rough, rude, uncouth, uncultivated, uncultured, unrefined, vulgar, or offensive. We like to joke, we like to poke fun, we can get gross, and it may appear personal. However, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt because most of it is said in jest. If this will be a problem for you, then either turn Vent off, or Ascension may not be the guild you seek. In truth, we'll ask that you withdraw your application to Ascension if coarse jesting is going to be a problem for you.
Game Chat and Forums:As stated above we are first and foremost friends and a community. And to a certain extent Ventrillo is like Vegas. What is said on Vent stays on Vent. We ask that you respect the people in community and in the game. Temper your forum and game language with moderation, while still being yourself. Basically any vulgar post will be frowned on and personal attacks are not acceptable. If you carry a beef with another member try and settle it privately or if it is serious enough bring it to the guild’s attention on the forum.
Questing and Dying:Quest is often times dangerous in WoW and the death penalty is sometimes steep. Although we all realize how important it is to advance, one's desire to quest does not constitute an emergency for other guild mates. Certainly, if we are not busy or were about to drop group anyways, then a quick assembly of an "A-team" to help you out is a reasonable expectation. On the other hand, guild members will NOT be expected to stop what they are doing to help out. Assistance will be given as those who will be helping are done with what they are currently doing or have found a satisfactory stopping point. If you can play an alt for a while or camp out and wait for assistance, that would be an acceptable alternative to requesting immediate assistance to your circumstances. This policy is not meant to keep people from asking for help. Rather, it is to make sure there are no hard feelings when the answer is "no" or "not right now". There is always a greater satisfaction and character growth in accomplishing as much of your own trials yourself as possible.
Most raid loot will be passed out by the Loot Council. These individuals are tasked with making sure the guild’s need for particular item is met before any one’s personal desires. Its more important the guild progresses as whole, before your need to progress your toon as an individual. Once the guild’s need for the loot has been satisfied, the item will be opened to anyone needing the drop. Your Rank, Size of the upgrade and the possible utility gained from the item will be considered when passing the items out. When all these factors are thought to be equal, then item will be rolled on by those that are eligible.
Anyone, guild or not, that takes a part in the raid will have the chance to roll on items. If an item drops and it is Bind on Equip (BoE) and an upgrade, please call it. Please use consideration when rolling for an upgrade on Bind on Pickup (BoP) items. What might be a minor upgrade for you, could be a major upgrade for someone else. If a rare quest item drops, there will be a random between those at the raid whose current character can use it. If there is no one that can use it at the raid, it will be rolled on by all. Winner can choose to do with it whatever they please. No hard feeling to any other guild members.
If you claim an item under "default" or need before greed (NBG) circumstances, it declares your intent to use it. If prior to receiving an item you know that you intend to sell or trade a defaulted or NBG item, you should not accept it. You can make it a gravy (group or raid-wide / random) item but you cannot take the item. Accepting an item in bad faith is bad form, reflects poorly on you, consequently, reflects poorly on Ascension, and makes other people angry.
Fronting for Items:This can be described as rolling for an uncommon item for a friend, a guild mate, your pet snake, your wife or in place of any character other than yourself. If the item was common and its gravy loot, you can roll for whatever you want. Otherwise, this practice should be avoided and is frowned upon by <Ascension>. Please do not place yourself and Ascension in a precarious position by attempting this unacceptable behavior.
Guild gifts:If you get a gift from a guild member, and thereafter obtain a better/replacement item for the gift item, the following should be considered prior to selling the item for profit. You should, if at all possible, give the item to someone else in the guild that can use it or give it back to the giver. Please use discretion and your best judgment.
Loot Policy - Conclusion:People do not spend their time and risk a loss to give/default/NBG/allow fronting for items to people who will simply turn around and sell or trade them. This is a community game, if you screw the people that comprise the community, you will tarnish your reputation and the guild’s reputation. Don’t be a loot whore, just use common sense and treat others, as you would like to be treated.
